Biography

Dr Danielle George completed her BSc in Astrophysics before starting an MSc in Radio Astronomy at The Victoria University of Manchester based at Jodrell Bank Observatory.

During her MSc studies Danielle realised her passion for practical based experiments and started to work at JBO as an RF engineer directly after her MSc studies. During her working carrer at JBO he also completed a PhD programme with UMIST. She worked at JBO as a senior microwave engineer until 2006 where she took up a lectureship post in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

She enjoys the teaching aspects and lecturers to both undergraduates and post graduate students. To date most of her research and development work has been carried out on a variety of aspects relating to ultra low noise receivers for radio astronomy. This has included the following:

·        Microwave and millimetre wave MMIC design
·        Millimetre was radiometer development and characterisation
·        Low Noise HEMT parameter extraction and modelling
·        Cryogenic LNA and radiometer applications

She is heavily involved in the next generation of astronomical instrument called the Square Kilometer Array (SKA).
