Why Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Manchester?

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has been educating international students for many years. Our undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes are renowned world wide and our students have progressed to high level jobs in many countries.

All of our degree programmes have a strong industrial link and our undergraduate courses can be structured to include industrial experience. In the latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) we were ranked 2nd in the UK confirming our world class research reputation.

Quality of teaching

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is one of the best in the UK. All of our undergraduate degree programmes are accredited by The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) which is the professional body for electrical and electronic engineering in the UK. The IET has also approved our taught MSc programmes.

In addition a number of our undergraduate and taught MSc programmes are accredited by The Institute of Measurement and Control (InstMC).

Student life

The UK, and particularly Manchester, is a diverse and multicultural place which is home to several thousand international students. Within the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering we have students from over 40 countries with international students account for over 40% of our total student numbers.

Because of this, we have a range of facilities suitable for students of all cultures.

English language learning

Studying in Manchester helps you improve your English language through your study, friends and everyday life. However, to get the best from your studies you need the appropriate language skills and our entry requirements for English language have been set to ensure that this is the case. In addition when you arrive in Manchester we arrange for your language skills to be assessed so that the appropriate tuition can be arranged if necessary.

If you do not currently have an English Language qualification at the required level then it may be possible to arrange a pre-sessional course, the duration of which will depend on your current English language qualification.
