Postgraduate study

The School offers a wide range of postgraduate study opportunities, both full- and part-time, which lead to the degrees of MSc, MPhil, PhD and EngD, or to a Diploma.

Each type of postgraduate course can provide a deep sense of satisfaction and achievement. The courses are demanding and require you to have a continuing interest in the subject matters and an ability to work hard throughout the course, but will lead you to a very worthwhile goal.

Postgraduate degrees

Research degrees:

The school offers MPhil (one year), PhD (three-years) and EngD (four years) research degrees. In addition you could study for a Masters by Research which combines taught and research elements of study. Research students are linked to one of our research groups where they work on a research topic of their choice.

Taught degrees:

Currently, we offer six taught Masters programmes. These programmes are of twelve months duration with a dissertation project in the final three months. Some of the MSc programmes can be studied on a part time basis.
