Research

The School has long been recognised for its high quality, high calibre research, both theoretical and applied, which puts it among the preeminent leaders in the field, nationally and internationally. The recent RAE ranked the school the 2nd out of 34 schools in the UK for research quality. Being one of the largest schools of this discipline in the country, we have conferred, over the years, more than 1000 PhD and 3000 MSc degrees, some of whom went on to become paramount leaders in industry and academia. Our historically excellent and broad links with industry enable us to foster our cutting edge research in the challenges electrical and electronic engineering faces. Our research bases continue to grow, develop or adapt to better serve our industry and wider society.
