Process Control

The Control Systems group is highly active in the area of process control research, with current studies focusing on techniques including Model Predictive Control, Stochastic Distribution Control, Ant-Windup Control and Multivariate Statistical Process Control.

Our work is very much industrial led and we work with a large number of large scale multinational companies, such as BP Exploration, Pfizer and IneosChlor, as well as several SMEs. Outputs of our research are widely exploited across many industrial sectors, including Petrochemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Pulp & Paper and Wastewater Treatment.

The transfer of our research in to industry is facilitated through Perceptive Engineering Ltd. Perceptive Engineering Ltd span out of The University of Manchester in 2003 and are now a major provider of control solutions to the process industries.
