Choosing a course in Electrical and Electronic Engineering!

In order to provide the most up-to-date degrees possible we have recently revised the content and structure of our programmes. These revisions have been introduced in collaboration with our industrial Advisors to ensure that our degrees remain relevant to industry and that our graduates continue to be highly sought after by recruiters. We offer the following three programme titles:

Each of these can be studied at BEng or MEng Honours levels. All our degree programmes can be combined with an accredited year-long industrial placement for the award of a With Industrial Experience degree.

The undergraduate degree programmes offered by the School provide a comprehensive foundation in the core topics of Electrical and Electronic Engineering coupled with an area of specialism relevant to emerging engineering challenges.

MEng or BEng?

The most obvious difference between the BEng and MEng Honours degree programmes is duration, three years for BEng and four years for MEng but what else should influence your choice? The aim of many students studying for a Degree in Engineering is to become a Chartered Engineer. Accredited MEng Degree programmes provide the educational base required to achieve this. Accredited BEng degree programmes require further study to be completed to achieve the same status. This can take the form of full or part-time postgraduate study, distance learning or work-based learning.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has accredited all of our degree programmes at both BEng and MEng Honours level.
