Perceptive Engineering Limited were founded in 2002 by Professor David Sandoz and Professor Barry Lennox, and Dave Lovett (Invensys). Perceptive is a provider of intelligent monitoring and control systems for the process industries. The company designs, develops and commissions real-time monitoring, control and fault detection systems to optimise process performance and safety.
Perceptive Engineering Limited work closely with the Control Systems Group, employing several recent PhD and MSc graduates. The company has undertaken two Knowledge Transfer Partnership projects and is heavily involved in a collaborative EPSRC project on energy reduction in the pulp and paper industry. Working with Perceptive Engineering Limited has allowed novel control structures, developed in the Control Systems Group, to be applied to solve complex industrial problems, particularly in the pharmaceutical and waste water industries.
