Facilities

The School has excellent teaching facilities with modern lecture theatres, dedicated computer suites and well equipped teaching and research laboratories. Our laboratories include clean rooms, a state of the art facility for molecular beam epitaxy and one of the highest specification high voltage laboratories in the UK.

 

Electromagnetics - MACS Research group

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering boasts a £2M Electromagnetics Research Centre that leads breakthroughs in areas such as mobile communications and radar systems.

Housing a 2MV impulse generator, 800kV AC test set and 600kV DC test set, the National Grid HV Research Centre is the largest of any UK University.

Ultrafast Laser Facility - SISP Research group

Visible/UV spectra of solution and film samples from 190 to 900 nm; infrared and Raman microscopy, array detection and full-beam spectroscopy, from near-infrared to far-infrared.
