High Voltage Laboratory gets major investment in new facilities
The University of Manchester has just been awarded £1.85m from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) for new high voltage test equipment that will support research and industrial engagement in the areas of electrical engineering and material science. The equipment will be installed in our High Voltage Laboratory, which in 2020 will form part of the University’s brand new £350m Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD).
IEEE Invited Talk: Dr Noushin Karimian
We are proud to announce that Dr Noushin Karimian, a member of staff in School of EEE at the University of Manchester, has been invited by the IEEE Women in Engineering of the UK & Ireland, to give an invited talk entitled “Recent Advances in Electromagnetic Sensor Development: Power Station, Aerospace & NDT Applications” designed to inspire, educate and engage students and staff from Engineering and Computer Sciences disciplines.
Best Paper Award for EEE Phd Student
An EEE PhD student Miss Nur Sarma, Dr Judith Apsley and Dr Siniša Djurović have been awarded the Best Paper Prize for their paper on “Implementation of a Conventional DFIG Stator Flux Oriented Control Scheme using Industrial Converters” presented at the 5th IEEE International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Application (ICRERA) held in Birmingham, UK on 20 - 23 November 2016.
