Multidimensional control systems

An area which the group has recently become involved is the extension of classical control system design techniques to systems in which the dynamic behaviour depends on more than one independent variable.

Transfer functions for such systems, which occur in applications ranging from web formation to image processing, are functions of two or more complex variables, and the challenge here is to develop interactive design methods which extend one-dimensional techniques to at least the two-dimensional case.
