We have established a framework agreement for research collaboration with Electricity North West Ltd (ENW)
Our strong links with industry and expertise in modelling and analysis of distribution networks resulted in the signing of a framework agreement for research collaboration with Electricity North West Ltd (ENW) in 2012.
The current support by ENW is in excess of £2 million and it covers various areas of research including research on data capture, analysis and modelling for a diverse portfolio of projects.
We run a number of Low Carbon Networks Fund (LCNF) projects
- Smart Street,
- Customer Load Active System Services (CLASS),
- Capacity to Customers (C2C),
- Low Voltage Integrated Automation (LoVIA),
as well as other projects such as Development of Policy for Best Practice of Transformer Oil Regeneration, Load modelling and many more.
In addition to research on future distribution network design and operation the group is also involved in supporting ENW’s activities by providing consulting services on practical, daily engineering challenges.
Our research findings from these different studies allow ENW and the industry as a whole making informed decisions in policy and planning, benefiting businesses and, ultimately, electricity customers.
