Led by Professor Philip Mellor at the University of Bristol and involving the universities of Greenwich, Nottingham, Manchester, Warwick and Imperial College London.

The components theme investigates packaging technologies, passive components, device switching control and operational management, that will transform the future integration and exploitation of new power semiconductor devices within power modules and as ‘building blocks’ within power conversion circuits.

The research at Manchester is concerned with high frequency magnetic components, including core topologies and materials, winding configurations and integrated thermal management.
