The thing I enjoy most about working in the Power Conversion research group is the breadth and depth of expertise from friendly academic staff and other PhD students.

Project title: High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Technology for Connection of Offshore Wind farms

I graduated from The University of Manchester in 2009 with a MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree. Following work experience with AREVA T&D I have been undertaking a PhD at the University of Manchester since October 2010.

I am currently in my third year of a PhD and my research project investigating the use of VSC-HVDC for the connection of offshore wind farms as part of the Supergen Wind Energy project.

I chose Power Conversion because I have a keen interest in the area of HVDC and understand the importance of this technology for present and future applications.

The thing I enjoy most about working in the Power Conversion research group is the breadth and depth of expertise from friendly academic staff and other PhD students.
