Degrees with industrial experience

All our degree courses can be combined with an accredited year-long industrial placement. Students on these extended courses spend a year in industry between their second and third years or third and fourth years.

There are many reasons why we encourage students to spend a period in industry during their undergraduate degree course. Time in industry will develop your business, team-working and transferable skills - all of which are sought after by graduate employers. Industrial experience will increase your awareness of the broad range of careers on offer and guide your choice of option subjects.

We have strong links with industry and students are able to find industrial placements with high profile companies such as Airbus, ARM, BAE Systems, BNFL, Bibliotheca, Broadcom – UKESF, BT, Caterpillar, GE Electric, Hewlett Packard, IBM, JCB, Logica, LSI Logic, Lucas Verity, Motorola, Nortel Networks, National Instruments, NXP Semiconductors, Ove Arup, Redbull, Rolls-Royce, Siemens PLC, TGB Solutions and Texas Instruments.

The School employs a full-time Industrial Experience Courses Manager who will help you find a suitable placement and develop your application. The Industrial Experience Courses Manager will also monitor your progress and offer you guidance during your placement.
