The National Grid Power Systems Research Centre
Since 2003 The University of Manchester has worked closely with National Grid on research relating to the design and operation of the UK Transmission System. The National Grid Power Systems Research Centre consists of the largest and best equipped high voltage laboratory of any UK university and includes facilities for teaching and research on topics such as power system protection and insulating materials.

National Instruments
National Instruments (NI) and The University of Manchester have developed a strong partnership over the past few years, with NI delivering lectures on instrumentation to engineering undergraduates, contributing a prize for the best final fourth-year project and donating data acquisition equipment to the University.

The Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre
Rolls-Royce opened a new University Technology Centre at The University of Manchester in 2004 to pursue research into innovative electrical technologies for aerospace, marine and energy applications. It is the focal point for research on electrical systems for extreme environments.
